1) CHill the fuck out.2) SO you appealed the denial on the grounds of medical necessity. Did you provide any documentation, such as surgery notes, x-rays, SOAP notes, etc, to support your claim that the ambulance ride was medically necessary?3) Did your insurance cover the other medical treatment you received at the hospital?4) Is it possible you are confusing a denial with a requirement that your deductible be met before they cover the ambulance service?5) If you provided documentation of medical necessity, your insurance covered other medical treatment, and that the 'denial' was not due to not meeting your deductible, you have a few other options. First off, make sure that the hospital/ambulance billed the correct code.

You will need to contact the billing office of the ambulance/hospital to make sure that they billed the correct code. If the billing office has billed the correct code, your next step is an external appeal as outlined If that appeal fails, then you may consider contacting a lawyer.

If you try going through the courts to resolve this, expect it to be time consuming, slow, and possibly expensive. Every single medical procedure, test, image, blood work was sent. Insurance has covered about 2/3 of the hospital stay, surgeries.etc. The deductible was met earlier in the year, co insurance I paid after which was $141.
Correct code was billed - explanation of benefits said this is not a covered service in my plan. I filed the external appeal and that was denied. I will try contacting a lawyer, thanks for your help. Also, please don't tell me to chill the fuck out. I've been dealing with fighting with the insurance company and billing companies almost every day since 3 weeks after the accident.
I'm not asking for sympathy but I'm sure you can understand how hard it is to concentrate on your recovery when you have to deal with the insurance companies on a constant basis. LocationBot v2.1.1Original Post:Author:Anthem Blue Cross & Blue ShieldHow can an insurance company deny your ambulance claim because they said it was out of state and they didn't have a contract with that company? What was I supposed to do, call the insurance company and wait to see if it was covered while a bone was sticking through my leg? And if I did that and found out it wasn't covered, what was I supposed to do, drive?. My grandfather had a similar incident. We have a network of hospitals under the same name.St.
Johns YonkersSt. Johns Dobbs FerryHe had a few stiches on his neck open up and had lots of blood coming out so i rushed him to dobbs ferry as it was quicker for the ER (We literally walked in and they laid him down and stiched him back up before even talking about insurance or papers). It's a much quicker and quieter ER in a quiet neighborhood compared to the other one.Month later we get a bill from the insurance saying they refuse to pay it since that hospital isn't in their network but the other St Johns is. Typed up a letter saying in a situation where the insured is bleeding out we should open up the 500 page book or visit the shit insurance website and figure out which out of the chains of hospitals is covered?Appeal was accepted and they paid the bill. It wouldn't hold up in court nor will your department of insurance accept that bullshit.
